How can I make soap without using lye?
Come on now….ancient man didn’t have lye…so don’t tell me it can’t be done.
Now I’d like to make an exfoliating soap maybe with Vitamin E or other natural ingredients that will make my skin glow.
Please tell me: The exact directions (or video) for making tis kind of soap
and if you know ingredients I can put in there to make my skin glow

Sorry but soap isn’t soap if it doesn’t contain lye.
During colonial times lye was obtained by leaching it from hardwood ashes. Not sure what they did in ancient times but I would imagine something similar or used something else entirely different. The soap that colonists used isn’t the same as what you use today either. The lye they used was called potash lye and it makes a soft or liquid soap paste.
If you’re interested in learning how to make soap, visit the link below for step-by-step directions. If you’re concerned about using a product that contains lye, don’t be……once the lye solution and the oils combine, they transform into glycerin and soap. The lye no longer exists.
As for the melt and pour mentioned above – lye was used to make it. It is a good way to avoid having to handle lye though. Some brands are more natural than others so check the ingredients before purchasing.
