Hygiene Helps Hemorrhoids
If you have mild to moderate hemorrhoid symptoms, and want to heal your hemorrhoids fast and thoroughly, one easy and cheap thing you can do starting today is to improve your anal hygiene. This is no joke: a bleeding hemorrhoid is an open wound situated in one of the most bacteria-ridden places in your body.
Sometimes a daily shower or bath is simply not enough. You may need to make time for an additional, more focused wash.
The best method is direct application of warm water to the affected area. So get in that shower or tub and direct a flow of water to your anus. Lather up with some gentle non-irritating soap such as Aloe Vesta, Cetaphil or Dr. Bronner’s castile soap. There will probably be a good deal of discomfort, so take it easy at first. But be sure to let plenty of water flow to rinse the area of soap and debris.
It is best if you can actually get some plain water up there using an enema or douche nozzle. You can even use a shower head set on the most vigorous setting, though again, you want to take it easy at first. Or purchase a small baby’s nasal bulb syringe that you can fill with water, lubricate with petrolatum, and gently flush out the anal canal.
This is where a sitz bath can provide even more healing relief. Now that the area is clean, it can more readily take in whatever beneficial ingredients are in the sitz bath preparation. Perhaps some essential oils or herbal drops sprinkled in the sitz bath water.
Gently pat dry afterward and follow up with a quality hemorrhoid remedy. Personally, I like to make my own, since my hemorrhoids are fairly mild. I just use a couple of drops of tea tree oil mixed with petrolatum. Apply with a clean Q-tip. The tea tree oil provides a soothing warmth without stinging or burning.
Then go sit on a cold freezer pack for five minutes or so, and you’ll definitely experience hemorrhoid relief.
