What to do with goats milk??? how to make soap with it?
Hi, someone said if I milk their goats when theyre out of town I can keep the milk. I dont really know what i could use it for. i buy goats milk soap from the store and use it. could i make it with the goats milk myself? how do u store goats milk? and would it be a good treat for my dogs? Thanks for any answers!!!
If put up correctly you can do anything with it that you do with cow’s milk. Ask the owners how they put up milk for themselves. Personally I milk directly into a sterilized gallon glass jar through a milk filter and then cool the milk in a bucket of cold well water while I finish up milking.
It’s the only milk my family has used for over 25 years. I also make a very easy cheese : bring milk almost to a boil and add a glug or two of apple cider vinegar, stir. Strain through a colander and add spices.
You can certainly make soap, just do a search for “goat milk soap” recipe and see what you find.
It would be good for your dogs. We feed our extra milk to calves and the cats and the dogs and the chickens and the ducks. We’ve sold milk to feed all sorts of orphan animals.
But it’s best when made into hot chocolate or a cream pie or ice cream
