What is the difference between solid oil and liquid oil?
I’m a high school student and I’m trying to make a cold-process soap but I just can’t understand the soap recipe especially the parts when they mention solid oil and liquid oil.
When you answer pls. post examples of each.
solid oil is an oil that is solid at room temperature; such as; palm oil, coconut oil, hydrogenated oil, etc.. liquid oil is oils that are liquid at room temperature; such as; olive oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil etc..

soaps are made for cleaning because it has this soap molecules which contains hydrophilic end, which dissolves in water, as well as a hydrophobic end, which is able to dissolve nonpolar grease molecules. Although grease will normally adhere to skin or clothing, the soap molecules can form micelles which surround the grease particles and allow them to be dissolved in water. You’ll get soap from either vegetable or animal fats. Sodium tallowate, a common ingredient in many soaps, is from rendered beef fat. Soap can also be made of vegetable oils, such as palm oil, and the product is typically softer. Soap can also be made with olive oil, these soaps are still useful but has a different useage.
When you use soap it can immediately clear out by clean water or can be rinsed out thoroughly. As you can see there are also two kinds of soap making process, the cold-process and the hot-process.
Cold-process soapmaking would takes place at a sufficient temperature to make sure of the liquification of the fat being used. The lye and fat may be kept warm after mixing to ensure that the soap is completely saponified.A cold-process soapmaker focuses on the saponification value of the fats being used on a saponification chart, which is then used to calculate the appropriate amount of lye. Excess unreacted lye in the soap will result in a very high pH and can burn or irritate skin. Not enough lye, and the soap is greasy. Most soap makers formulate their recipes with a 4-10% discount of lye so that all of the lye is reacted and that excess fat is left for skin conditioning benefits.
Unlike cold-processed soap, hot-processed soap can be used right away because lye and fat saponify more quickly at the higher temperatures used in hot-process soapmaking.
Hot-process soapmaking was used when the purity of lye was unreliable, and this process can use natural lye solutions, such as potash. The main benefit of hot processing is that the exact concentration of the lye solution does not need to be known to perform the process with adequate success.

Recipe for raspberry almond soap please?
Hello,
I am new to soap making and would like to make soap using the cold process method. Can anyone suggest a recipe to make raspberry and almond soap please?
We have the following ingredients:
Coconut oil, palm oil, apricot kernal oil, sweet almond oil, sodium hydroxide, distilled water, raspberry fragrance oil, almond fragrance oil, red colouring and glitter.
Is there anything else I need or that you would recommend?

I would recommend this recipe I just made for you using Soapmaker3:
Coconut (40%)t: 181.4 grams(6.4oz)
Palm (20%): 90.7g (3.2oz)
Sweet Almond (15%): 68.0g (2.4oz)
Apricot Kernel Oil (25%): 113.4g (4oz)
NaOH (sodium hydroxide):65.65g (2.32 oz)
H20 (water): 162.72g (5.75oz)
Raspberry FO:9.55g (.35 oz)
Almond FO: 9.55g (.35oz)
1 Tbsp glitter
1/8th tsp of color (may need to do it by eye because different colors have different potencies, so just add a very small amount until you achieve the color you would like)
All units are in dry weight so you will need a scale.
This recipe should yield about 5 4.5 oz bars
